Executive Summary (General Business): Representatives from the Port St. Lucie Youth Council will provide an overview of the accomplishments of the Youth Council in their first (1st) year since their July 2023 appointment. Staff will then review the new Youth Council Application that was created to begin a selection process for the appointment of the 2024-2025 Port St. Lucie Youth Council.

Presentation Information: A PowerPoint presentation will be presented by the members of the Youth Council and City staff on the Youth Council accomplishments and the proposed Youth Council application and requirements.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council receive the report and approve the recommended Youth Council application.

Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and receive the report and approve the recommended Youth Council application.
2. Move that the Council provide staff direction.

Background: The Port St. Lucie Youth Council was established on July 24, 2023, as an advisory board and transitioned to a fact-finding board on December 4, 2023. Since their start in July, the Youth Council has attended Florida League of Cities conferences, met other Youth Councils in Florida, and explored options to improve teen programming in Port St. Lucie.

Issues/Analysis: The City's first (1st) Youth Council appointed was selected based on recommendations from St. Lucie Public Schools, Boys & Girls Club of St. Lucie County, and Roundtable of St. Lucie County, to assist in the establishment of the Youth Council and the development of application criteria.
