Executive Summary (General Business): This application is a city-initiated text amendment to Section 158.213, Wireless Communications and Towers to add the Regional Business Center sub-district to the list of sub-districts under the NCD future land use classification that allows wireless communication antennas and towers as a special exception use (Section 158.213 (D) (9)).
Presentation Information: Staff will provide a presentation.
Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve the zoning text amendment as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Board.
Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve the zoning text amendment.
2. Move that the Council not approve and provide staff direction.
Background: The Planning and Zoning Board recommended approval at their August 6, 2024, meeting.
Issues/Analysis: Section 158.213 of the Zoning Code establishes the standards for the siting of wireless communication antennas and towers within the City of Port St. Lucie. It requires wireless communication antennas and towers as special exception uses in various zoning districts. The Regional Business sub-district of the NCD future land use classification is suitable for wireless communication antennas and towers.
