Executive Summary (General Business): This resolution establishes the City’s continued support of the Downtown Fort Pierce as a future Brightline station location.
Presentation Information: N/A
Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve the resolution establishing the City’s continued support of Downtown Fort Pierce as a location for a Brightline Railway station.
Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and complete the motion in the affirmative.
2. Move that the Council not approve the recommendation and provide staff with direction.
Background: Brightline Trains LLC recently solicited requests for proposals for a new station on the Treasure Coast, and the St. Lucie County Transportation Planning Organization (“TPO”) is supporting the City of Fort Pierce in the completion of a proposal for a station in Downtown Fort Pierce. The City previously demonstrated support for this project back in 2018, and this resolution establishes the continued support of the City of Fort Pierce as a future Brightline station location.

Financial Information: Not applicable currently. The City’s support could entail interlocal agreements and or other instruments/arrangements with stakeholders and/or other municipalities/local governments, which will be presented for approval as the circumstances require.
