Background: Prior to 2023, the Utility Systems Department (USD) utilized Rhombus Sensor Floats within residential grinder systems. However, beginning in 2023, an increase in failure rates was observed with the existing floats, resulting in system downtime and additional maintenance. To identify a more reliable alternative, USD began testing Anchor Scientific SM30-NO Mini-Floats switches in September 2024. Over the course of a year, these switches demonstrated superior performance, reliability, and compatibility with existing grinder systems.
The Anchor Scientific Mini-Float switches provide a significant improvement in both efficiency and durability compared to previously used components. The selection of this product aligns with USD’s mission to deliver exceptional service while maintaining cost-effective and dependable infrastructure.
An E-Bid was issued on September 26, 2025, to 583 potential suppliers. There were 33 plan holders with 3 responses being received on November 5, 2025.
