Summary Brief: The owner of 898 SE Seahouse Drive, Port St. Lucie, Florida, is requesting to abandon five (5) feet of the existing fifteen (15) foot wide rear utility and drainage easement for a pool, deck, and screen enclosure.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve the Ordinance abandoning five (5) feet of the fifteen (15) foot rear utility and drainage easement located at 898 SE Seahouse Drive, Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve to abandon five (5) feet of the fifteen (15) foot rear utility and drainage easement located at 898 SE Seahouse Drive, Port St. Lucie, Florida.
2. Move that the Council not approve the abandonment and provide staff direction.
Background: The real property located at 898 SE Seahouse Drive, Port St. Lucie, Florida, was platted with a rear twenty (20) foot wide rear utility and drainage easement. In 1984, the City abandoned five (5) feet of the twenty (20) foot wide rear utility and drainage easement via Ordinance 84-44 recorded in Official Records Book 786, Page 2626, of the Public Records of St. Lucie County, Florida. The current owner desires to construct a pool, deck, and screen enclosure. Prior to construction, an additional five (5) foot wide portion of the rear utility and drainage easement will need to be abandoned. The owner of the property has submitted a request for the abandonment to the City.
Issues/Analysis: The request to abandon a portion of the easement was evaluated by the Public Works Department, Utility Systems Department, and the Public Utility Companies (AT&T, FPL, Comcast, and Florida City Gas). The City Departments and Utility Companies have no objection to the abandonment of five (5) feet of the fifteen (15) foot rear utility and drainage easement at 898 SE Seahouse Drive, Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Financial Information: There will be no cost incurred by the City.
