Executive Summary (General Business): In conjunction with the St. Lucie Cultural Alliance, the City of Port St. Lucie will be co-hosting the St. Lucie Multicultural Arts & Music Festival, April 30 -May 1, 2022 at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center. Requested is City sponsorship for securing musical talent.

 

Presentation Information: Elijah Wooten, Business Navigator, will be make a brief presentation and answer any questions.  

 

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve the sponsorship request.

 

Alternate Recommendations:

1.                     Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve the sponsorship request.

2.                     Move that the Council not approve and/or provide staff direction.

 

Background: In 2021, the St. Lucie Cultural Alliance held the Treasure Coast Arts & Mindfulness Festival at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center. In 2022, the City of Port St. Lucie will be partnering with the St. Lucie Cultural Alliance to hold the St. Lucie Multicultural Arts & Music Festival - an admission free event to the public.  The Festival will feature activities that include mindfulness, arts, cultural performances, and food trucks.  The Festival’s evenings will highlight headlining musical talent. It is requested the City Council allocate $50,000 for multicultural & diverse music talent and marketing.

 

Issues/Analysis: Based on the suggested talent, in addition to an approved $50,000 by the City, a like amount will need to be raised.  Efforts have been made for organized sponsorships, similar previous events, i.e.: Crosstown Parkway Grand Opening.

                     

Financial Information:  The $50,000 City contribution to be allocated from 001-1900-53400-00000 General Government. A Budget Amendment will follow the event to account for sponsorship contributions.
