body
Submitted By: John A. Bolduc, Chief of Police
Strategic Plan Link: The City’s Mission to be financially responsible.
Executive Summary (General Business): The Port St. Lucie Police Department is requesting approval to expend $2,750 of forfeiture funds in accordance with F.S.S. 932.7055(5(a)(b)). This request has been certified by me, the Chief of Police, that the request complies with the subsection. Once approved by Council members, the funds will be incorporated into the City’s budget, via the budget amendment process.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve the forfeiture request.
Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve the forfeiture request.
2. Move that the Council provide staff direction on the expenditure of the forfeiture funds.
Background: The Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) is requesting to purchase an additional Falcon Camera for the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) at an estimated cost of $2,750.
Issues/Analysis: FDOT will not allow us to use their right-of-way to install the cameras as we initially intended. As such, we’ve devised an alternate plan which will utilize the existing traffic light poles for most of the locations along with three Flock installed poles. In this new configuration, we need to add an additional camera to our system, which would bring us to nine cameras instead of the original eight.
Financial Information: PSLPD intends to use forfeiture funds to purchase an additional Falcon Camera for the Criminal Investigation Division at an estimated cost of $2,750.
