Summary Brief (Agreements/Contracts only)

1.                     Prepared by: Robyn Holder, CPPB (PMD).

2.                     Parties: City of Port St. Lucie and Paul Jacquin & Sons, Inc.

3.                     Purpose: To relocate and replace the extensive underground equipment for the interactive fountain to an above ground control room with new equipment.

4.                     New/Renewal/Modified: Modified.

5.                     Duration: An additional 136 calendar days for a new end date of 9/13/2022.

6.                     Benefits to Port St. Lucie: Replace equipment that has reached the end of its useful life and address safety concerns for confined space entry for two (2) maintenance personnel.

7.                     Cost to Port St. Lucie (Annual and Potential): An additional $40,630.95 for a final contract amount of $939,097.95.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve Amendments #1 & #2 to Contract #20210036 for the Interactive Fountain Underground Equipment Relocation Project with Paul Jacquin & Sons, Inc.

 

Alternate Recommendations:

1.                     Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve Amendments #1 & #2 to Contract #20210036.

2.                     Move that the Council not approve Amendments #1 & #2 to Contract #20210036 and provide staff with direction.

 

Background: The City’s splash pad fountain at the Mid-Florida Event Center was built in 2008 and is frequently used and maintained by City staff. The project was developed to improve operations and maintenance due to the frequency of maintenance and the age of the original equipment that has reached the end of its useful life. The work also addressed concerned with the confined space entry needed for maintenance operations.

 

Amendment #1 has already been processed that addressed an additional 30 calendar days. Amendment #2 is for the final true-up of the actual cost to complete the work and an additional 136 calendar days for a final completion date.

 

Issues/Analysis: Staff has reviewed the final true-up and find them to be fair and reasonable. 

                     

Financial Information: Funds are available in the Facilities Maintenance General Fund / Repairs & Maintenance (#001-4135-546100-00000).

 

Special Consideration: N/A.

 

Location of Project: 9221 SE Event Center Place, Port St. Lucie, Florida.
