body

Submitted By: Kristina Ciuperger, Assistant City Manager on behalf of Mr. Frank Castro of

the Fort Pierce Westside Post No. 8058 Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, Inc. (“VFW”).

Strategic Plan Link: The City's Goal to enjoy culture, nature and fun activities.

Executive Summary (General Business): The VFW is requesting that the City Council approve the City’s co-sponsorship of VetFest 2025, scheduled to be held at the MidFlorida Event Center on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

Presentation Information: Mr. Frank Castro, on behalf of VFW, will be available for any questions.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve the co-sponsorship request.

Alternate Recommendations:

1.                     Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve the co-sponsorship request.

2.                     Move that the Council provide staff direction.

Background: VetFest will be held at the MidFlorida Event Center on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 4pm to 9pm, to celebrate veterans. The event will feature music, vendors, vehicle and military displays, and family-oriented activities.

The VFW is requesting that the City co-sponsor the event by permitting the use of the City’s logo in promoting the event, as well as promotional and advertising support from the City’s Communications Department for the event.

Issues/Analysis: This event would be the first of its kind for the City, intended on bringing together veterans’ organizations to host a larger scale, family-friendly event.  VFW is the organizing entity for this event.

Financial Information: Co-sponsorship involves the allocation of City resources (e.g., labor of the City’s Communications Department) in promoting the event.  Expenditures for the anticipated promotional work will be within the bounds of the Communications Department’s approved budget.
