3.                     Purpose: To acquire real property located at 3532 SW Savona Boulevard, Port St. Lucie, FL, for the Savona Boulevard/Alcantarra Boulevard Intersection Improvements.

4.                     New/Renewal/Modified: New

5.                     Duration: N/A

6.                     Benefits to Port St. Lucie: Acquisition of real property located at 3532 SW Savona Boulevard, Port St Lucie, FL to facilitate the construction of a future roundabout.

7.                     Cost to Port St. Lucie (Annual and Potential): $80,000.00 plus closing costs and the appraisal fee.

 

Presentation Information: Staff will be available to answer any questions.

 

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve the Resolution authorizing the acquisition of real property located at 3532 SW Savona Boulevard for the Savona Boulevard/Alcantarra Boulevard Intersection Improvements.

 

Alternate Recommendations:

1.                     Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve the Resolution authorizing the acquisition.

2.                     Move that the Council not approve the acquisition and provide staff direction.

 

Background: The Savona Boulevard/Alcantarra Boulevard intersection is a three-legged intersection and is currently signed as an “All Way” stop. Long term, this intersection would function more efficiently with the addition of a roundabout.  Public Works will be suggesting this improvement to be considered in the next five-year budget cycle

 

Issues/Analysis: The existing right-of-way at this intersection will support a roundabout, however, the acquisition of this vacant parcel would prevent a driveway connection to a future roundabout which would not be desired and could present design issues.

                     

Financial Information: $80,000 plus closing costs and appraisal fee. Account number 310-4105-561000-00000

Location of Project: The real property to be acquired by the City is located at 3532 SW Savona Boulevard.
