Executive Summary (General Business): This Resolution has been prepared at the direction of the City Council per the consensus and discussion had at the March 24, 2025 City Council meeting.
Presentation Information: There is no presentation anticipated for this item, but staff will be available to answer Council questions during discussion of the item.
Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council adopt the Resolution.
Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and provide direction on amendments to the Resolution.
2. Move that the Council reject the adoption of the Resolution.
Background: On February 24, 2025, the Governor of the State of Florida signed Executive Order 25-44, which established the Department of Governmental Efficiency Team (“EOG DOGE”) within the Office of Policy and Budget in the Executive Office of the Governor. The EOG DOGE Team is tasked with assisting local governments in identifying unnecessary spending, eliminating waste, and finding opportunities to save taxpayer dollars.
At the March 24, 2025 City Council meeting, it was the consensus of the Council for the City Attorney to draft a resolution pertaining to the City’s current and ongoing commitment to government efficiency. Per that consensus, the proposed draft Resolution is before the City Council for consideration.
