Background: Currently, FDOT Project number 444707-1-58-01, Intelligent Transportation Systems (Adaptive Signals) at various locations along Gatlin Boulevard is underway, with funding provided through an FDOT Local Agency Program (LAP) grant. The proposed additional improvements to the intersection at SW Gatlin Blvd. and SW Savona Blvd. will further support congestion management and provide benefit to the residents of Port St. Lucie. Project will be constructed in a phased approach to address congestion management. Phase 1 Improvements include lengthening the existing left turn lanes on Gatlin Boulevard and adding a second left turn lane. The outside left turn lane will be gored (closed) until the improvements on SW Savona Boulevard are constructed as part of Phase 2 of the improvements. The streetlights currently located in the median affected by the turn lane improvements will be relocated to the edge of roadway. Signal head adjustments are also anticipated.
Issues/Analysis: NA
Financial Information: The portion of funding as provided by the City of Port St. Lucie for this project for phase 1 was allocated for FY2022/23. However, due to the availability of grant funding, as provided by FDOT, the proposed construction schedule has been shifted to FY2023/24.
Special Consideration: On October 5th, 2022, the St. Lucie TPO Board approved the project to be constructed in FY 2023/24 by the City with funding from the TPO through the FDOT LAP grant. Currently the project is ranked #5 among the St. Lucie TPO Congestion Management Process (CMP) projects included in the FY 2021/22 List of Priority Projects. As a result, this will delay the construction of the phase 1 improvements by approximately 1 year.
Location of Project: Located at the intersection of SW Gatlin Blvd. and SW Savona Blvd.
