Background: As specified in Rule 62-528, Florida Administrative Code (FAC) a Class 1 injection well must demonstrate mechanical integrity every five years. The most recent casing pressure test for the Glades Deep Injection Well IW-1 was last completed in September 2018. Therefore, the next MIT must be completed by September 2023.
Issues/Analysis: Due to the limited number of contractors that can perform this type of work, the Department is requesting that an amendment be issued to Layne Christensen Company’s current contract for Mechanical Integrity Testing for the Southport and Westport Deep Injection Wells to perform the same mechanical integrity test on the Glades Deep Injection Well.
Financial Information: Funds are appropriated in the Utility Fund/ Westport WWTF/Improvements #438-3512-563000.
