Strategic Plan Link: The City's Goal of high-quality infrastructure and facilities.
Executive Summary (General Business): The City of Port St. Lucie proposes to rezone five parcels totaling 1.23 acres, located on the east side of SW Kail Street, north of SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard and west of SW Airoso Boulevard. The request would change the zoning from Single-Family Residential (RS-2) to Institutional (I) with the intent to bring these City owned properties adjacent to the City Hall Complex under the same zoning district. There are currently no proposed plans to construct any new buildings or structures on these properties.
Presentation Information: Staff will provide a presentation.
Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve the rezoning as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Board.
Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council deny the institutional rezoning and provide staff with direction.
Background: On September 1, 2026, the Planning & Zoning Board unanimously voted to recommend approval of the Institutional rezoning.
Issues/Analysis: The proposed rezoning request for the properties along SW Kail Street is consistent with the direction and intent of the City of Port St. Lucie Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code. The Institutional (I) Zoning District is compatible with the proposed Institutional (I) future land use classification per policy 1.1.4.13 of the City’s Comprehensive Plan.
