Executive Summary (General Business): To provide an update of the 2021 Florida Legislative Session.
Presentation Information: Deputy City Attorney Ella Gilbert will be present for discussion.
Staff Recommendation: Request that the Council hear the presentation.
Background: The Florida Legislative Session convenes on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 and is scheduled to adjourn on April 30, 2021 or at another time agreed upon by the House of Representatives and Senate. City Council approved the State Legislative Program on November 16, 2021. City Manager Blackburn presented the City’s Legislative Program to the St. Lucie County Legislative Delegation on January 19, 2021. Our lobbyist, Gray Robinson provides weekly updates throughout the duration of the Legislative Session.
Issues/Analysis: HB 2123 (Trabulsy) - Port St. Lucie Septic to Sewer Conversion Program in the amount of $731,125 was filed on January 21, 2021 and has been assigned to Agriculture & Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee & Appropriations Committee. HB 2125 (Trabulsy) - Port St. Lucie - St. Lucie River/C-23 Water Quality Restoration Project (Areas 5 & 6) in the amount of $120,000 was filed on January 21, 2021 and is on the agenda for the Agriculture & Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee & Appropriations Committee Meeting on March 3, 2021 . HB 2127 (Trabulsy) - Port St. Lucie - St. Lucie River/C-23 Water Quality Restoration Project (Area 4) in the amount of $1,024,862 was filed on January 21, 2021 and has been assigned to Agriculture & Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee & Appropriations Committee. HB 2159 (Trabulsy) - Hegener Drive Extension Tradition Center for Commerce in the amount of $3,150,509 was filed on January 21, 2021 and has been assigned to Infrastructure & Tourism Appropriations Subcommittee & Appropriations Committee. The corresponding Senate project forms were submitted to Senator Harrell.
