Executive Summary (General Business): The Applicant is requesting approval of the rezoning of an approximate 49.11-acre property from St Lucie County Agricultural-5 (1 dwelling unit per 5 acres) (SLC AG-5) to Institutional (I). This rezoning application is contingent upon the Verano Development of Regional Impact (DRI) Map H amendment (P22-215), which is scheduled for the September 26, 2022 City Council Meeting.
Presentation Information: Staff may make a brief presentation.
Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve the rezoning as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Board.
Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve the rezoning.
2. Move that the Council deny the rezoning request.
Background: The applicant is requesting this change to allow for a school site on this property. This is a requirement of the Verano DRI.
On August 2, 2022, the Planning and Zoning Board recommended approval of the rezoning request.
Issues/Analysis: See staff report. The property has a future land use classification of Residential Golf Course (RGC), which is compatible with the Institutional (I) zoning district.
