Executive Summary (General Business): The City of Port St. Lucie asked its residents to submit photos and vote for the best Halloween outdoor yard decorations in Port St. Lucie for its inaugural 2023 Spooktacular House Decorating Contest.
Presentation Information: A 15-minute awards presentation for the three award winners of the 2023 Spooktacular House Decorating Contest. Staff will present the winners with awards and prizes. Winners and City Council Members will pose for pictures. Communications will show a brief video of the winning contestant’s homes.
Staff Recommendation: Request that the Council The Communications Department will announce the results for the Spooktacular House Decorating Contest. All the bones have been counted and the most spooky and frightening outdoor yard Halloween decorators have been chosen by Port St. Lucie residents. We saw skeletons come to life, werewolves howling and spiders crawling. Cemeteries were built, witches soared, and ghouls haunted the front lawns of 72 homes. And the winners are... Background: This is a spin-off of the beloved PSLinLights Holiday Light & Yard Decorating Contest. This is the first year the Communications Department hosted the event, Port St. Lucie residents were able to utilize the City’s website and email to submit photos of their home's spooky yard displays. The City then posted these photos and their addresses to the SpookyPSL webpage allowing residents to vote on their favorite display. There were three categories to win, and 1,200 residents voted.
Issues/Analysis: 72 homes entered the Spooktacular House Decorating Contest and over 1,200 residents voted for the winners.
