Background: The Utility Systems Department is planning for utility upgrades that would allow for the ability to divert additional wastewater flow from the south/southeast part of the City, to the north and eventually west towards Glades Wastewater Treatment Plant. This plan would further provide redundancy in our collection system. On October 26, 2020, City Council approved the Utility’s request to negotiate for the purchase of property for a new lift station. The purchase of 301 Bay Street will provide an opportune location to construct a new lift station reliant on modern design standards and technology that would help to reduce the flow to the Westport Wastewater Treatment Plan. The new lift station would be landscaped to be very neighbor friendly.

Issues/Analysis: As described in Background and Special Consideration.

Financial Information: The funds for this purchase are available in 431-3380.

Special Consideration: The new lift station reliant on modern design standards and technology would help reduce the flow to the Westport Wastewater Treatment Plan.
