Executive Summary (General Business): Provide a brief update on the final design and next steps for the Tradition Regional Park USA BMX Adaptive Wheel Park. Showcase the final renderings prepared by Action Sports Design (ASD, LLC)
Presentation Information: Mike McIntyre from Action Sports Design (ASD, LLC) will provide a brief presentation on the USA BMX Adaptive Wheel Park update, with City staff available to address any questions.
Staff Recommendation: Request that the Council hear the presentation and provide any comments or observations on the final renderings.
Background: Action Sports Design, LLC (ASD, LLC) was awarded a contract on July 10, 2023, to manage the planning, design, construction documents, bidding, and construction administration for the City of Port St. Lucie’s Integrated BMX Racetrack Facility, pump track, and bicycle safety learning facility. The project has now reached 100% plan completion, with bidding expected to begin shortly and an anticipated opening in the first quarter of 2026.
The Tradition Regional Park USA BMX Adaptive Wheel Park aims to be a premier destination, blending competitive opportunities with community engagement and promoting recreational activities for all.
The design integrates a traditional BMX track with a pump track and flow park, creating a multi-functional, all-wheel-inclusive space. This approach allows for public recreation when not hosting sanctioned events and prioritizes efficiency and low maintenance, making it sustainable and cost-effective.
The facility aligns with Olympic standards, featuring a BMX racetrack measuring 1,100 linear feet, designed for high-level competitive events. It is expected to host major USA BMX-sanctioned events annually that would be scheduled a year in advance.
Beyond BMX racing, the facility is inclusive and versatile, offering programmed activities like adaptive racing, RC car racing, and timed pump track events. Non-programmed uses include freestyle riding for skateboards, scooters, roller skates, mountain bikes, and adaptive cycles.
