Strategic Plan Link: The City's Goal of a high-performing city government organization.

Executive Summary (General Business): This is a City initiated small- scale future land use map amendment to amend the Future Land Use on 38.93 acres, more or less, of city owned land from the future land use designation of Utility (U) to the future land use designation of Institutional (I).  The subject property consists of one parcel on the northeast corner of SW Crosstown Parkway and SW Cameo Boulevard immediately west of the Florida Turnpike.  The purpose of this application is to change the future land use for the 38.93 acres to Institutional (I) so that the future land use and zoning designations are compatible.  Office and warehouse buildings are proposed to be constructed on the site for the Public Works Department.

Presentation Information: Staff will provide a presentation.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council adopt the amendment as recommended by the Planning & Zoning Board.

Alternate Recommendations:

1.                     Move that the Council amend the recommendation and adopt the amendment.

2.                     Move that the Council not approve the amendment and provide staff direction.

Background: The proposal to amend the future land use for the 38.93-acre property to the Institutional (I) classification is consistent with the Comprehensive Plan Policy and Objectives.

Issues/Analysis: The primary objective of this land use amendment is to ensure compatibility with the existing Zoning District of the property which is Institutional, and to bring the Future Land Use on this City owned property into conformity with other City owned properties which have Institutional as their Future Land Use. The proposed change in land use designation also aims to facilitate use of this site for the construction of the future Public Works Department facility.
