Executive Summary (General Business): The Children's Services Council of St. Lucie County (CSC SLC) considers Special Designation Requests from local nonprofits and government agencies to support child-focused initiatives, capacity building, and one-time operational needs outside of standard grant cycles.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council accept the Agreement and authorize the Chief of Police to sign the Agreement.

 

Alternate Recommendations:

1.                     Move that the Council amend the recommendation and  approve the agreement.

2.                     Move that the Council not approve and/or provide staff with direction.

 

Background: On April 16, 2026, the Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County made the City aware of an opportunity to apply for the CSCSLC Special Designation request. The project, The Safe Return and Wandering Prevention Program, is a public safety initiative to better locate and protect children prone to wandering.

Financial Information: The Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County agrees to pay the City, through its Police Department, an amount not to exceed $9,910.32 for equipment and subscriptions for the Safe Return and Wandering Prevention Program. There is a 50/50 match required.
