Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve the Resolution authorizing the acquisition of real property located at 3266 SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard for the Port St. Lucie Boulevard South Improvements.
Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve the Resolution authorizing the acquisition.
2. Move that the Council not approve the acquisition and provide staff direction.
Background: The Port St. Lucie Boulevard South project will be widening the existing 2-lane undivided roadway to a 4-lane divided roadway with curb and gutter drainage and sidewalks on both sides of the roadway. Part of the roadway project includes installing traffic signals on steel mast arms at multiple intersections. The intersection at Tunis Avenue and Port St. Lucie Boulevard will be receiving a mast arm signal, which will be installed at or in the vicinity of the front of Lot 11, rendering access to the subject parcel challenging. Additionally, locating a driveway connection from this parcel at the proposed signalized intersection is not desirable.
Issues/Analysis: The acquisition of this vacant parcel will prevent a driveway connection from occurring directly into the signalized intersection or within the influence area of the intersection.
Financial Information: $85,300.00 plus closing costs and appraisal fee.
