Strategic Plan Link: The City's Goal of a high-performing city government organization.

 

Executive Summary (General Business): With completion of the decennial U.S. Census, the City of Port St. Lucie is required to review and adjust, if necessary, the City Council Districts Map.  The legal descriptions of the four proposed City Council district boundaries have been prepared and are attached to the ordinance.

 

Presentation Information: Staff is available for questions as needed.

 

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council adopt the Ordinance amending the four City Council district boundaries.

 

Alternate Recommendations:

1.                     Move that the Council amend the recommendation and adopt the ordinance.

2.                     Move that the Council not adopt the ordinance and provide staff direction.

 

Background: The Districting Commission’s proposed map was presented to the Council on December 6, 2021.  After discussion and input from the Council, a revised map was presented to the Council on February 14, 2022.  It was the consensus of the Council to move forward with the proposed districting map.

 

Issues/Analysis: The amended District Map needs to be approved by Ordinance 90 days before he next election.
