2. Move that the Council not approve Amendment #1 to Task Order #20260142 - E-8 Tampico Drive Canal Improvements and provide staff with direction.
Background: During excavation within the drainage right-of-way, it was determined that the existing muck deposits are significantly deeper than anticipated. The additional muck must be excavated and removed to establish a stable and suitable sub-grade capable of supporting the proposed riprap installation. As a result of the increased excavation depth and quantity of unsuitable material, additional embankment material will also be required to restore the area to the proposed grades. The additional funds are necessary to properly stabilize the drainage right-of-way and ensure the long-term performance of the riprap and drainage improvements.
Issues/Analysis: Staff is seeking City Council approval for Amendment #1 under City Code of Ordinances, Sections 35.09(b) and (c), since the increase to the Task Order exceeds $199,999.99.
