Executive Summary (General Business): The owners of 622 SE Seahouse Drive, Port St. Lucie, Florida, are requesting to abandon seven (7) feet of the existing seventeen (17) foot wide rear utility and drainage easement to construct a tiki hut.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve to abandon seven (7) feet of the rear seventeen (17) foot utility and drainage easement located at 622 SE Seahouse Drive.
Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve to abandon seven (7) feet of the rear seventeen (17) foot utility and drainage easement located at 622 SE Seahouse Drive.
2. Move that the Council not approve the abandonment and provide staff direction.
Background: The real property located at of 622 SE Seahouse Drive was platted with a rear twenty (20) foot wide utility and drainage easement. Three (3) feet of the original twenty (20) foot easement was abandoned in 1989. The current owners are now requesting to abandon seven (7) feet of the remaining seventeen (17) foot wide rear utility and drainage easement for the construction of a Tiki Hut. Prior to construction, a seven (7) foot wide portion of the easement will need to be abandoned. The owners of the property have submitted a request for the abandonment to the City.
Issues/Analysis: The request to abandon a portion of the easement was evaluated by the Public Works Department, Utility Systems Department, and the Public Utility Companies (AT&T, FPL, Comcast, and Florida City Gas). The Public Works and Utility Departments and Utility Companies have no objection to the abandonment of seven (7) feet of the seventeen (17) foot rear easement at 622 SE Seahouse Drive.
