Summary Brief (Agreements/Contracts only)

1.                     Prepared by: Margaret M. Carland, Senior Deputy City Attorney

2.                     Parties: City of Port St. Lucie Port St. Lucie Governmental Finance Corporation (GFC) and Church Lane Apiaries, LLC.

3.                     Purpose: To allow the GFC to enter into a beekeeping lease agreement with Church Lane Apiaries, LLC on portions of property within Southern Grove and owned by the GFC.

4.                     New/Renewal/Modified: New

5.                     Duration: This will be a two (2) year lease agreement with an optional renewal period of two (2) years.

6.                     Benefits to Port St. Lucie: The City's Goal of a high-performing city government organization.

7.                     Cost to Port St. Lucie (Annual and Potential): There is no cost associated with this Lease.

 

Presentation Information: Staff will be available to answer any questions. 

 

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Board approve the Resolution authorizing the Beekeeping Lease.

 

Alternate Recommendations:

1.                     Move that the Board amend the recommendation and approve the Resolution.

2.                     Move that the Board not approve and provide staff direction.

 

Background: Previously, GFC lands were leased to a cattle rancher. However, with the successful sale of GFC property, the remaining parcels have limited access to water and grazing lands making cattle operations difficult. The GFC staff sought out alternative agricultural uses for the land(s) until such time as the properties are sold for development.

Special Consideration: As the Governmental Finance Corporation continues to sell off parcels to further the intent of the Southern Grove Master Plan, Buyers will have the option of assuming a lease agreement with Church Lane Apiaries, LLC, for their respective property.

 

Location of Project: Lot 2, Southern Grove Plat 45; Lots 1 and 5, Southern Grove Plat 46; Tracts A and B, Southern Grove Plat 39.
