Strategic Plan Link: The City’s Mission to plan for smart and balanced growth.

Executive Summary (General Business): The applicant is requesting the rezoning of two (2) parcels totaling approximately 23 acres, from Institutional (I) to Utility (U) to be consistent with the City’s Comprehensive Plan and with the existing and future use of the property.  The Utility (U) Zoning District allows permitted uses as listed per Section 158.137 of the City’s Zoning Code.

Presentation Information: A presentation will be provided by staff.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve the rezoning as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Board.

Alternate Recommendations:

1.                     Move that the Council deny the request and provide staff direction.

Background: The property contains a decommissioned wastewater treatment plant.  The remaining uses on the property are a wastewater booster station, fuel tank, and generator. There is also a wireless communication tower on the property.

Issues/Analysis: The rezoning classification complies with the direction and intent of the City of Port St. Lucie Comprehensive Plan.  The Utility Zoning District (U) is compatible with the existing Utility (U) future land use classification, and Policy 1.1.4.13 of the Future Land Use Element.
