Executive Summary (General Business): Official naming of the Regional Park site located at 13120 SW Tradition Parkway, Port St. Lucie, FL.

 

Presentation Information: N/A, PSLPRD staff will be available to answer any questions.

 

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve “Tradition Regional Park” as the official name for the park site located at 13120 SW Tradition Parkway, Port St. Lucie, FL.

 

Alternate Recommendations:

1.                     Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve a name for the park site located at 13120 SW Tradition Parkway, Port St. Lucie, FL.

2.                     Move that the Council not approve and provide staff with additional direction.

 

Background: On March 9, 2020, City Council Authorized Mattamy Palm Beach, LLC to begin the planning process for the park site located at 13120 SW Tradition Parkway, Port St. Lucie, FL. The park site is currently known as “Tradition Regional Park”.  A Conceptual Master plan was developed for the future park, illustrating park features and amenities derived through meetings with city staff, the public, stakeholder groups, and referencing the Parks and Recreation 10-Year Master Plan.

 

The City, in Partnership with Mattamy Palm Beach, LLC held a groundbreaking ceremony on July 17, 2024, to begin construction of Phase I improvements.  A design contract was awarded to Action Sports Design on July 11, 2023, to begin development of a proposed Inclusive All-Wheel USA BMX Sanctioned Track.  BMX Track construction began in July 2025.  All amenities currently under construction are expected to open in 2026.

Special Consideration: Staff recommendation is consistent with City Council Directed Policy #19-04ccd “Naming Policy for City Facilities”.  If City Council approves staff’s recommendation to name the park “Tradition Regional Park”, the City Attorney will prepare a Resolution for Council consideration in accordance with City Council Directed Policy #19-04ccd, section 2.
