St. Lucie West Boulevard Widening: Feasibility Study Presentation

body

Submitted By: Emily Seitter, CIP Administrator, CIP & HCST Project Group, Public Works

Strategic Plan Link: The City's Goal of high-quality infrastructure and facilities.

Executive Summary (General Business): A Feasibility Study was conducted on St. Lucie West Boulevard from Peacock Boulevard to Cashmere Boulevard. The scope of work included but was not limited to the collection and analysis of traffic volume data, future growth rate modeling, and targeted intersection improvements to inform the potential widening of the corridor.

Presentation Information: 20 minutes, Power Point, Emily Seitter and Andrew Garrison (Consultant)

Staff Recommendation: Request that the Council hear and discuss the findings of the Feasibility Study.

Background: St. Lucie West Boulevard is one of the busiest east-to-west corridors in Port St. Lucie, providing connection to I-95 and US 1, various local businesses, educational facilities, and residential communities. Significant congestion on St. Lucie West Boulevard has resulted in this corridor being highly ranked on the St. Lucie County Transportation Planning Organization List of Priority Projects. In 2022, a proposal to convert existing right turn lanes into through lanes to provide for a six-lane divided roadway was made. Subsequently, Kittelson & Associates was contracted to conduct a feasibility study to validate that proposal.
