Executive Summary (General Business): The owner of the real property located at 2229 SW Kail Street, Port St. Lucie, Florida, has agreed to sell the subject property to the City, pursuant to the terms and conditions set forth in the “As Is” Residential Contract that is being submitted to the City Council for approval.
Presentation Information: Staff will be available to answer any questions.
Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve of the Resolution authorizing the acquisition of real property located at 2229 SW Kail Street, Port St. Lucie, Florida, for the future expansion of the City’s Municipal Complex.
Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve the Resolution authorizing the acquisition.
2. Move that the Council not approve the acquisition and provide staff direction.
Background: The subject property is adjacent to the City Hall complex, specifically backing the Building Department parking lot, situated on Kail Street next to a City owned lot.
Issues/Analysis: As the City continues to grow, the City finds itself in need of additional spaces for use and development. Having the opportunity to procure locations adjacent to the municipal complex affords a distinct advantage not likely to be repeated if action was delayed. The purchase of this property is both strategically prudent and fiscally advantageous in consideration of future usages.
Financial Information: The acquisition will cost the City $440,000.00, plus the cost of the appraisal and closing costs.
