Presentation of Water Conservation Poster Contest Winners

Executive Summary (General Business): The Utility Systems Department (USD) wishes to recognize the winners of Florida Section American Water Works Association (FSAWWA), statewide Drop Savers Water Conservation Poster Contest.
Presentation Information: 10 minutes. Jenny Tomes, USD, will provide a brief overview of the poster contest, display the winning posters, and present each winner with a certificate.
Staff Recommendation: Request that the Council acknowledge the efforts of the winners for submitting quality drawings for the contest.
Background: : Port St. Lucie Utility Systems Department invited St. Lucie County school students to participate in the Drop Savers Water Conservation Poster Contest in conjunction with the Florida Section American Water Works Association. Students were asked to create a poster earlier this year with a water conservation theme. A total of seven schools participated and 199 entries were submitted from students in grades Pre-K through 8th grade. This is the first time we've had submissions from homeschool students, plus we had an entry from a Pre-K student. A winner was chosen from each participating grade, and those posters were submitted to the FSAWWA state-wide poster contest. We truly thank St. Lucie County Schools for their participation and for supporting this project.
Issues/Analysis: Each winner and their posters have been submitted to FSAWWA statewide poster contest, which will be held in mid- April.
