Executive Summary (General Business): NSD’s Code Compliance Division has successfully earned its second four-star accreditation through the American Association of Code Enforcement. The Department would like to inform the Council, City staff, and the residents of Port St. Lucie of its recent re-accreditation.
Presentation Information: Neighborhood Services Director, Carmen Capezzuto will provide a brief presentation on the reaccreditation efforts of the Department.
Staff Recommendation: Request that the Council hear the Neighborhood Services Department’s presentation.
Background: Approximately 7 years ago, the Code Division started the process of seeking accreditation from the American Association of Code Enforcement (AACE). When the department achieved a 4-star accreditation in 2020, the City of Port St. Lucie was one of three agencies in the United States to earn this national accreditation and the only agency in Florida to do so. In 2023, the department earned an initial reaccreditation and improved the overall score in the process. This year, the Code Compliance Division worked hard to improve our standard operating procedures, department policies, and overall accreditation package; which resulted in our highest four-star accreditation to date. The City of Port St. Lucie is now one of 11 agencies in the country to hold an agency accreditation through AACE. The Division will continue improving internal processes to maintain status as one of the premier Code Compliance agencies in the United States.
