Eagle Scout Project Presentation by Ms. Erika Wilson

Executive Summary (General Business): Local Eagle Scout candidate, Ms. Erika Wison, will present her project to City Council.
Presentation Information: 10-minute Power Point Presentation
Staff Recommendation: Request that the Council hear the presentation and authorize Ms. Erika Wilson to proceed with her Eagle Scout project as presented.
Background: The Parks & Recreation Department has assisted local Eagle Scout candidates with their projects for many years. Ms. Erika Wilson, a current Eagle Scout candidate, has approached the P&R Department and requested permission to construct an historical information sign within the City owned “U.S. Submarine Veterans Park”. The sign will contain graphics and text describing the USS Nautilus (SSN-571), the world’s first nuclear-powered boat and submarine. The P&R Department supports Ms. Wilson’s project and recommends approval.
Issues/Analysis: The Parks & Recreation Department has worked with several local Eagle Scout candidates over the years. This project will enhance an existing City Park by erecting an historical interpretive sign within U.S. Submarine Veterans Park.
Financial Information: Eagle Scout candidate Wilson will secure all funding, materials, labor, permits, authorizations and approvals needed for full and complete project implementation. Upon completion of the project, the improvements to the park will become a city asset and property of the city.
