Review the Selection Committee's Recommendation for City Hall Mural
body
Submitted By: Bethany Grubbs, Senior Planner

Strategic Plan Link: The City's Goal to enjoy culture, nature and fun activities.

Executive Summary (General Business): The mural will be installed in November 2024.

Presentation Information: Designing Local, the city's consultant, and/or staff will provide a presentation.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Board recommend forwarding a recommendation of approval for the purchase and installation of the proposed mural by artist, Jeremy Jarvis of Jarvis Art Studio.

Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Board amend the recommendation and recommend approval of another artist's mural.
2. Move that the Board recommend denial of all artworks to the City Council.

Background: The city is seeking an artist to install an original mural at City Hall. The mural will replace the inaugural City Hall wall mural, which was originally installed in 2014. This highly visible structure measures 12' 6" by 64' 3". The new mural at City Hall will act as an artistic expression of Port St. Lucie's new rebranding to welcome families and the young-at-heart from all backgrounds who seek a down-to-earth Florida lifestyle.

Artists are required to consider factors such as maintenance and materials and meet specific design parameters for their proposals that are outlined below. See the RFP for the full set of ranking criteria.
