Summary Brief (Agreements/Contracts only)
1. Prepared by: Verano 2 & 3 Community Development Districts (hereinafter "Verano CDDs")
2. Parties: City of Port St. Lucie and Verano 2 & 3 Community Development Districts
3. Purpose: To approve the traffic enforcement agreement allowing the City of Port St. Lucie to jurisdiction over the roads in the Verano 2 & 3 Community Development Districts. The City of Port St. Lucie's Police Department (hereinafter "PSLPD") shall enforce the Florida Uniform Traffic Control Laws and the Code of Ordinances of the City of Port St. Lucie, Florida on such roads.
4. New/Renewal/Modified: New
5. Duration: Five (5) years
6. Benefits to Port St. Lucie: Safety to City residents located in the community.
7. Cost to Port St. Lucie (Annual and Potential): PSLPD may charge for the actual costs of providing traffic control and enforcement within the Verano communities.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve the Traffic Enforcement Agreement.

Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and and accept and execute the Traffic Enforcement Agreement.
2. Move that the Council not execute the Traffic Enforcement Agreement and provide staff with direction.

Background: Verano CDDs have requested that the City agree to permit its Police Department to enforce the traffic laws within the community. Verano CDDs have provided proof of insurance and an engineer certification that the roadways are in compliance with the current relevant laws
