Parties: City of Port St. Lucie and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (“FDEP”).
Purpose: The USD has installed a force main interconnect to transport flow from the Westport Wastewater Treatment Facility ("WWTF") to the Glades Booster Pumping Station.
New/Renewal/Modified: Modified.
Duration: The Grant Agreement was scheduled to expire on September 30, 2026. Through this amendment, the agreement was extended for a two-month period to begin October 1, 2026, and remain in effect until November 30, 2026.
Benefits to Port St. Lucie: The force main interconnect allows for the transfer of wastewater flows during heavy rain, tidal and storm-induced flooding conditions to be treated to high-level disinfection standards and reused for irrigation, reducing discharges to the St. Lucie River and the Estuary Basin.
Cost to Port St. Lucie (Annual and Potential): The FDEP was originally matching funds up to $8,762,155 for a total estimated project cost for construction of $17,524,310. However, the FDEP recently identified additional funding which covered all construction related costs for this project with no cost to the City.
