3. Purpose: The City is seeking a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) Grant from the St. Lucie County Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) for the construction of a 12' wide sidewalk/trail to connect the FDOT Jobs Express Terminal Park & Ride Station (SW Hayworth Avenue) south to O.L. Peacock Sr. Park (SW Dreyfuss Boulevard). The TPO is requesting a Resolution from City Council supporting this project and grant application.

6. Benefits to Port St. Lucie: Peacock Trail is identified for development on the City Sidewalk Masterplan and is also identified as number 11 on the TPO Masterplan. The development of this trail will facilitate the safe passage of pedestrians, cyclists, and others between the FDOT Jobs Express Terminal Park & Ride Station and the O.L. Peacock Sr. Park.
7. Cost to Port St. Lucie (Annual and Potential): The TPO grant currently indicates availability of FDOT participating funds in the amount of $650,000.00 for the construction phase of the project. The Engineering Cost Estimate for the project is $1,615,703.24. The estimated City contribution is a total of $965,703.24.
