6. Benefits to Port St. Lucie: Enhanced water quality in the St. Lucie River, recharge the local water table, retain stormwater generated on the property and excess water pumped from the adjacent C-23 Canal.
7. Cost to Port St. Lucie (Annual and Potential): One-time expense of $719,800.00.

Background: McCarty Ranch was acquired by the City to facilitate a planned surface water treatment facility. This project is to design a 230-acre reservoir at the site. This is an addition to the 5 shallow reservoirs at the McCarty Ranch Extension, which will secure a source of nutrient removal for the St. Lucie River as well as provide a future stable source of raw water. As of October 2024, Areas 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are complete and operational.
