P26-106 City of PSL - SW Kail Street Properties Rezoning

Location: East side of SW Kail Street, north of SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard west of SW Airoso Boulevard.

Legal Description: Port St. Lucie Section 18, Block 688, Lots 14-17 & 20

This is a request to rezone approximately 1.23-acres from the Single-Family Residential (RS-2) Zoning District to the Institutional (I) Zoning District.

body

Submitted By: Francis Forman, Planner III

Executive Summary: The City of Port St. Lucie proposes to rezone five parcels totaling 1.23 acres, located on the east side of SW Kail Street, north of SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard and west of SW Airoso Boulevard. The request would change the zoning from Single-Family Residential (RS-2) to Institutional (I) with the intent to bring these City owned properties adjacent to the City Hall Complex under the same zoning district. There are currently no proposed plans to develop the properties.

Presentation Information: Staff will provide a presentation.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Board recommend approval of the rezoning request.

Alternate Recommendations:

1.                     Move that the Board recommend denial of the rezoning request.

Background: There is a concurrent future land use amendment for these properties (P26-105).

Issues/Analysis: The proposed rezoning request for the properties along SW Kail Street is consistent with the direction and intent of the City of Port St. Lucie Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code. The Institutional (I) Zoning District is compatible with the proposed Institutional (I) future land use classification per policy 1.1.4.13 of the City’s Comprehensive Plan.
