Executive Summary (General Business): The agreement is between the City of Port St. Lucie, specifically the Police Department's Animal Control Section, and the Humane Society of St. Lucie County, Inc., which is a not-for-profit corporation and a no-kill shelter, will provide protection to impounded animals in the form of shelter, care, and adoption of these animals, as well as other services necessary.

Background: The City and the Humane Society of SLC, Inc. has agreed to provide the animals taken in from the City of Port St. Lucie a safe environment, with shelter, care, food, health, and ultimately adoption, with an approved allotted payment of $1,255,732.25 paid annually by the City of Port St. Lucie Police Department, Animal Control Section.

Financial Information: The cost is based on a payment of $5.45 per citizen applied to the 2022 BEBR estimate that the population of Port St. Lucie on April 1, 2022, was 224,905. Thus, the overall payment is $1,255,732.25 per year.
