Summary Brief (Agreements/Contracts only)

2. Parties: City of Port St. Lucie and Superior Landscaping & Lawn Service, Inc.
3. Purpose: To accentuate one of the City's oldest commercial corridors and the area adjacent to the MidFlorida Event Center.
4. New/Renewal/Modified: New.
5. Duration: 270 calendar days with no option to renew.
6. Benefits to Port St. Lucie: The intent is the beautification of the critical throughfare and giving a boost to the commercial property adjacent to the roadway as it will help spur growth.
7. Cost to Port St. Lucie (Annual and Potential): One-time expense of $3,205,166.92, plus a City owned contingency of $88,920.68 for a total amount of $3,294,087.60.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council award Contract #20220085 and enter into a unit price contract with Superior Landscaping & Lawn Service, Inc. for the US #1 Landscaping & Irrigation Project - Segments 1 & 2.

Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and award Contract # 20220085.
2. Move that the Council not award Contract #20220085 and provide staff with direction.

Background: This project initially came into fruition back in 2014 as a City Council initiative although it did not have financial support. In 2018-2019 this project was appropriated for funding through the 1/2 Cent Sales Tax, and the current design was modified to reflect the current City Council vision.

This project consists of landscape beautification of the medians along US #1 (State Road 5) from the St. Lucie/Martin County line to SE Huffman Road (+3.3 miles). The project is split into two (...
