Executive Summary (General Business): On April 11, 2022, the City Council provided authorization to participate in the City of Fort Lauderdale ITB 12492-813 for Refuse and Recycling Carts, Semi-Automatic with Schafer Systems International, Inc. to purchase assorted sizes of garbage and recycling carts for an amount not to exceed $4,870,670.00. This agenda item is for the purchase of 2,541 additional 65-gallon garbage carts to meet residential requests for smaller sized garbage carts at a cost of $111,168.75.

Presentation Information: N/A

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council waive the provisions of the Code, Section 35.04(c), for good cause shown, and authorize the purchase of 2,541 additional 65-gallon garbage carts to meet residential requests.

Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve the purchase.
2. Move that the Council not approve and provide staff direction.

Background: On April 11, 2022, the City Council provided authorization to participate in the City of Fort Lauderdale ITB 12492-813 for Refuse and Recycling Carts, Semi-Automatic with Schafer Systems International, Inc. to purchase assorted sizes of garbage and recycling carts for an amount not to exceed $4,870,670.00. Subsequently, the City provided each residential property the opportunity to select either a 96-gallon garbage cart (recommended) or an option for a smaller 65-gallon garbage cart.
