Executive Summary (General Business): The Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) has been awarded funding through the U.S. Department of Justice (USDOJ) - Florida Department of Law Enforcement JAGC - 23 Countywide Program, to enhance the Police Department's existing Bike Unit by using grant funds to purchase E-Bikes and E-Bike racks for the Port St. Lucie Police Department's Bike Unit.

Staff Recommendation: Approve acceptance of grant award and execution of grant agreement by the mayor.

Background: The JAGC program represents approximately 85% of Florida's total federal award and is subdivided into two parts - state share and local share. State share projects are appropriated to state criminal justice agencies, whereas local share projects follow the application process outlined in Chapter 11D, Florida Administrative Code. Using population and crime statistics, the local share is divided among Florida's 67 counties through a formula-based funding matrix. Each county is responsible for completing the local strategic planning process and providing notification to OCJG of proposed projects

Issues/Analysis: The police department will utilize the E-Bikes to help with their commitment to enhancing the unit's operational effectiveness, improving community engagement, and ensuring a high standard of public safety.
