Executive Summary: The City of Port St. Lucie's Parks & Recreation department plans to pursue a Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program grant for improvements at O. L. Peacock Sr. Park. Grant requirements include discussion of the project by the City's Planning & Zoning Board, as the City does not have a designated advisory board responsible for park, recreation or leisure service activities.

Presentation Information: Kelly Boatwright, CPRP, Senior Project Manager, City of Port St. Lucie Parks & Recreation Department will provide a brief presentation.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Board hear a presentation on the grant, discuss and support the grant application.

Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Board amend the recommendation and hear a presentation on the grant and discuss the grant application.
2. Move that the Board provide direction.

Background: The City of Port St. Lucie is planning to apply to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for a $200,000 Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program grant to support improvements to O.L. Peacock Sr. Park. A requirement of the grant is for the project is to be discussed at a regularly scheduled meeting of the applicant's advisory board responsible for park, recreation or leisure service activities. The board must be an appointed group of citizens, such as a parks and recreation advisory board, who would normally review projects similar to the proposed grant application. Planning and zoning or similar boards may be used if a parks and recreation advisory board does not exist.
