Executive Summary (General Business): The City of Port St. Lucie, as the applicant and property owner, is requesting a rezoning of two (2) parcels. The subject properties are currently zoned Industrial (IN) and Service Commercial (CS). The proposed rezoning to the Open Space Conservation (OSC) Zoning District is consistent with the intended future land use and will support the preservation efforts of the site with uses limited to passive recreation.
Presentation Information: Staff will provide a presentation.
Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve the proposed rezoning as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Board.
Alternate Recommendation:
1. Move that the Council deny the rezoning and provide staff direction.
Background: On August 4, 2026, the Planning and Zoning Board unanimously voted to recommend approval of the rezoning to the City Council.
The City acquired the surrounding +/- 94-acre natural area in 2009 and has since acquired the two parcels that are the subject of this request, including a parcel that provided access to the overall Commerce Centre North site.
