This is a request for a small-scale future land use map amendment to change the future land use designation of approximately 1.23-acres from Low Density Residential (RL) to Institutional (I).

Executive Summary: This is a City initiated small- scale future land use map amendment to amend the Future Land Use on 1.23 acres, more or less, of City owned land from the future land use designation of Low Density Residential (RL) to the future land use designation of Institutional (I). The subject properties consist of five parcels on the east side of SW Kail Street, north of SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard and west of SW Airoso Boulevard.
Presentation Information: Staff will provide a presentation.
Staff Recommendation: Move that the Board approve the future land use map amendment.
Alternate Recommendations:
Move that the Board recommend denial of the future land use map amendment.
Background: The City, through master plan and future service needs, acquires parcels in key locations when they become available to support long-term facility planning. This action does not mean that any construction, expansion, or redevelopment is planned. Strategically acquiring these parcels has several advantages. The parcels may create additional buffering between City operations and adjacent neighborhoods. It creates uniform zoning arrangements that support a more cohesive site. Also, the removal of developable residential lots can also reduce potential density.
