body
Submitted By: Joseph DeFronzo, P.E., Public Works
Strategic Plan Link: The City's Goal of high-quality infrastructure and facilities.
Executive Summary (General Business): The eastern section of SW Tradition Parkway from I-95 to SW Village Parkway is currently posted with a 45 MPH speed limit. Between SW Community Boulevard and SW Village Parkway the posted speed limit is 35 MPH. The western section from the roundabout at SW Community Boulevard to the Renaissance Charter School at SW Stony Creek Way has a posted speed limit of 40 MPH. The Public Works Department is recommending a change in the posted speed limit from 35 MPH to 40 MPH to ensure consistency. This change is supported by the recommendation from a Speed Study completed in March 2021 by Mackenzie Engineering.
Presentation Information: N/A. Staff will be available for discussion and to answer any questions.
Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council adopt the 40 MPH posted speed limit on Tradition Parkway from SW Community Boulevard west to the Renaissance Charter School at SW Stony Creek Way, increase the posted speed limit to 40 MPH between SW Community Boulevard and SW Village Parkway and retain the 45 MPH posted speed limit from I-95 to SW Village Parkway.
Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and provide staff comments and direction on how to move forward
2. Move that the Council not approve the recommendation and provide direction.
