3. Purpose: The Utility Systems Department plans to construct an additional Class I deep injection well (IW-2) at the Glades Wastewater Treatment Facility to meet future demands as well as act as redundancy for the existing injection well during routine maintenance or in emergency situations.
4. New/Renewal/Modified: New.
5. Duration: The term of the contract is 15 months.
6. Benefits to Port St. Lucie: A second deep injection well mitigates operational issues in the event that the existing deep injection well fails or must undergo routine maintenance and testing. This redundancy also enables increased wastewater treatment capacity by removing constraints placed on the system by limited effluent disposal capacity, allowing for future plant expansion to meet increasing demands on the system.
7. Cost to Port St. Lucie (Annual and Potential): One-time expense in the amount of $15,968,500.00.
