Discussion: Cat Cafes as an Allowable Use in the City of Port St. Lucie

Executive Summary (General Business): The purpose of this discussion item is for the Council to provide direction to staff on if they would like staff to prepare and advance a zoning text amendment to allow the development of Cat Cafes in the city. Staff can provide some brief background information and suggestions on how the code could fit in to the existing regulations.
Presentation Information: Staff has a brief information presentation if the Council desires.
Staff Recommendation: Request that the Council provide direction to staff to either prepare a zoning text amendment for Cat Cafes or to take no action on this item at this time.
Background: Cat Cafes are not currently a permitted use in the city. Recently there has been interest expressed to staff by a customer interested in possibly opening such an establishment in the city. In order to be able to do so a zoning text amendment is required. City staff is looking for direction from the City Council as to if we should draft a city initiated zoning text amendment at this time.
Issues/Analysis: This use is not currently permitted in the city. Staff requires direction from City Council regarding if a zoning text amendment should be drafted by staff at this time.
