body
Submitted By: Yvonne White Grayson, Business Tax Supervisor, Financial Management Department
Strategic Plan Link: The City's Goal of a high-performing city government organization.
Executive Summary (General Business): The City's Business Tax Division requests an amendment to Section 111.16 of the City's Code relating to business tax workshops. These workshops are offered by the Business Tax Division. This Division is now under the direction of the Financial Management Department, not the Building Department. We are requesting to remove the Building Department from the Ordinance.
Presentation Information: Yvonne White Grayson, Business Tax Supervisor, will be available for questions.
Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve the revision to the Ordinance.
Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and apply the revision to the Ordinance.
2. Move that the Council provide staff with direction.
Background: Section 111.16 of the City Code, was enacted to provide 50% reduction of the business tax application fee for new business owners and/or representatives that attended a session of the free business workshops that are conducted by the Business Tax Division. Previously, the Business Tax Division was under the direction of the Building Department and now is under the Financial Management Department. Therefore, the ordinance needs to be updated to refer to the appropriate department.
